Lead Regional Security Specialist , Iraq

The position provides a comprehensive service that identifies risks, evaluates current and future threats, conducts security surveys and performs high level comprehensive investigations. The incumbent will assist the business in the delivery of security awareness programs and will make recommendations on security strategies to the Iraq Operations Leadership Teams, the BHGE Iraq Security Manager and to the Regional Security Director (MENAT & India).

Role Summary

Offers the opportunity as an experienced Lead Regional Security Specialist to join the team in Al Basrah, Iraq. The principal role of the Security Specialist is to advise businesses on the management of security in line with BHGE Security Guidelines and Policy and to assist them in their regular assessment and effective management of security exposures. In addition, this role will include but not be limited to advising and implementation of physical security measures at rig/well sites.

Essential Responsibilities


Develop and maintain process of planning, designing, budgeting and implementing integrated security solutions for all new, refurbished and current BHI facilities
Conduct, manage, maintain vulnerability assessments utilizing the Securview tool to ensure standard processes and methodologies are being used during security assessments
Ensure all physical security projects are on time and in compliance with BHGE standards. Ensure BHGE security programs and asset protection levels remain aligned to support their business goals
Maintain continual contact with the business leadership to proactively monitor changes in business practices that have a potentially adverse effect on their threat/risk profile
Maintain professional liaison relationships with military and law organizations.
Excellent knowledge of tribal and Provincial Leader sensitivities.
Leads or participates in the process to identify risks related to security.
Formulates and implements policies or initiatives to mitigate risks.
Conducts risk assessments of new and existing facilities.
Develops system standards and applications for physical security vendors.
Provides cost benefit/return on investment analysis and other metrics for proposed security systems.
Reviews emerging systems and technologies for present and future applications
Interacts and coordinates with facility managers, security coordinators and management on physical security matters.
Designs and implements security programs to prevent, detect, or react to known or suspected threat and/or criminal activity against the company.
Assists with the development of written procedures and posts orders describing the operation of all physical security systems.
Manage, coordinate and supervise the third party security providers’ function and responsibility to BHGE employees and interests.
Share and promote the BHGE Security guidelines policy and organizational philosophy.
Handles special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
7+ years’ experience in conducting and management of investigations, physical security and/or law enforcement function including access control and background investigations.

Desired Characteristics

Experience deploying enterprise solutions.
Excellent knowledge of oil and gas industry and BHGE.
Experience with crisis/emergency response management.
Demonstrated business acumen and ability to learn and understand BHGE business.
Self-starter with an ability to operate with minimal supervision – stands in for BHGE Security Manager when traveling.
Corporate security experience is a must.
Military security experience in addition to industry experience preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills (Arabic & English), and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
Excellent time management and organizational skills a must.
Strong computer skills required – full suite of Microsoft programs.
Ability to work independently to consult with customers, consultants, and company management in establishing vision for corporate standards.
Good employee relations skills and supervisory experience.
Assertive and self-motivated to develop and implement policies and procedures.
Willingness to travel throughout country – North and South Iraq.
