Summary

This position will provide technical support to the Senior Director, Global Safety and Security (GSS) and serve as a focal and liason person with GSS partners and related interagency networks. The Senior Specialist will provide required support to the Sr. Director, GSS with the aim that the Sr. Director led GSS team continues to lead agency efforts in implementing a common safety and security management approach in close coordination with the Save the Children Alliance structures as well as supporting Agency’s security management improvements consistent with Save the Children standards for safety and security.

The Senior Specialist will provide direct safety and security management support in emergency response and assist the Sr. Director GSS in responding related inquiries from SCUS programs and managed accounts, assist the Sr. Director, GSS in developing further capacity in staff security training, maintain and manage travel management support systems, analyze accounts linked to incident reports and security updates and maintain an information exchange network.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact

Support the Sr. Director, GSS efforts to improve safety and security for Savethe Children operations, programs and staff, including all SCUS Emergency Response Programs and SCUS managed accounts; assist the Sr. Director, GSS maintain an effective safety and security management system consistent with Save the Children policy and standards. This will entail assisting with audit and compliance functions. (30%)

Develop and maintain further effective information exchange network, review related open sources, subscription reports, internal and external reports via partners and interagency channels and other available information, analyze documents and share analysis and insights with the Sr. Director and GSS staff. (10%)

Provide direct safety and security management support in emergency responses and respond to inquiries from SCUS programs and managed accounts. (10%)

Monitor internal safety and security related organizational systems, including maintaining travelllers security management system and assist Sr. Director, GSS in further development and institutionalizing of related procedures; monitor related web based systems, maintain filing; provide associated trainings and orientation to SC staff and partners; be available to be deployed on short notice for criticial incident reposnse and as a member of humanitarian reponse team; assist Sr. Director, GSS with reports and perform other duties as needed (40%)

Serve as a focal and liason person with GSS partners and related interagency networks, including OSAC, EISF, InterAction, UNDSS, etc; attend related meetings with partners and SC business teams, provide related briefings and reports to Sr. Director, GSS (10%)
