Main purpose of job:
The Post Security and Transport Manager will work as an integral part of a small, highly efficient Network Corporate Service team in a demanding, important and enjoyable role. He / she will have the responsibility of dealing effectively with day to day running of the Security and Transport teams in Rio. The role will involve coordinating the security guards and managing the Security of the
Consulate General Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. The role will include significant management responsibilities, managing 4 security guards, and 1 Consulate driver.


Roles and responsibilities:
Management and supervision of the local engaged guards and, in conjunction with the ROSM, ensure they receive adequate training. Setting up and monitoring security contracts such as airlocks, CCTV, panic alarms and Fire alarm. Organise alarm testing in the office, CG residence and UKB staff properties. When necessary arrange and supervise maintenance of fences, gates and other security equipment in the BCG and staff residences.
Liaise with the Military, Civil and Federal Police, with the security staff at other friendly diplomatic Missions, with customs and other Brazilian authorities. Account for and arrange maintenance of all security equipment in use. Prepare and deliver security training to all Posts in Brazil. Manage security projects liasing with relevant expertise as necessary. Provide general advice to  staff on physical and procedural security.
Deputy Fire manager, co-ordination of fire drills and wardens. Oversee control of access arrangements. Prepare reports on matters of security interest including incident returns. Prepare leave rosters for guards in advance.
Prepare a monthly security newsletter. Provide advice to British Companies on security matters. Report and record any breaches of security.
Regional Security Manager support. Keep abreast of security news, logistical support on Belo Horizonte, undertaking information research as requested. Assist in VIP support including transport plans.
Key transport responsibilities; ensure the vehicle log books and car documents are up to date and comly with local / UK regulations. Daily management of 1 Consulate driver. Assist with the purchasing and disposing of official vehicles. Ensuring effective maintenance of all official fleet vehicles. Deal with incoming and outgoing diplomatic and freight bags.

Essential qualifications and experience  
Essential on arrival:
5 year experience in Security field
Fluency in English and Portuguese

Desirable qualifications and experience  
Desirable:
Security Experience in a Military, Police or Corporate field.
Legal knowledge.
Good connections with law enforcement in Rio a big advantage.
Local knowledge of the city is very helpful too.
